Moorland School Summer Courses
International Ballet Academy base their summer course in the picturesque Ribble Valley, at Moorland School. Moorland school is the home of the International Ballet Academy’s vocational Ballet School. The summer school provides young dancers with the facilities and expertise to develop their skills aiding student’s to reach their full potential.
Our Summer School offers both national and international students aged 8-18 the opportunity to improve their technique whilst working alongside other young dancers from around the world. Our Summer School is run by the International Ballet Academy Directors – Lynsey and Simon Kidd whose experience in the Ballet industry is invaluable.
The Summer School will last for 2 weeks. Students may either attend for the full 2 weeks or for individual weeks.

Sunday 20th to Saturday 26th August 2017
Students will board in the spacious dormitories on site, with highly secured access control doors, ensuring children are safe. The children are under the supervision of our experienced house parents.
There will be a number of different classes including; Classical ballet technique, character and Spanish dance, pointe, Pilates, repertoire, creative dance and choreography, contemporary / jazz and drama.
Students are placed into groups according to age / ability with between 12 -15 students in each group. There will be three groups: Group A ages 8-11, (Grade 3-5 or equivalent) Group B ages 12-15 (Grade 6 – Intermediate equivalent) and Group C ages 16+ (Advanced 1 / 2 equivalent)
A typical day at Moorland Summer School
The day starts with breakfast at 8am then the students are asked to prepare for class.
There will be two 1.5 hour classes in the morning.
Lunch will be served at 12noon and the students will have an hours break until 1pm.
The afternoon will consist of a further two 1.5 hour classes bring the teaching day to an end at around 4pm.
Dinner will be served at around 5pm which will allow time in the evening for any activities. These may include quiz nights, games and movie nights and walks in the local area.
Students will be back in their dormitories by around 9pm.
On the middle weekend students will have the opportunity to go out for dinner and on the Saturday evening and have a full day trip out on the Sunday.
On the final day of the Summer School parents and guardians are invited to come and see what has been learnt over the two week course at a demonstration.
The cost to attend both weeks of the Summer School is £1040.00. This includes two weeks full board residential, tuition, weekend excursion and airport transport form Manchester for International students.
To attend the Summer School full board for one week the cost is £550.
Cancellations from the Summer School can be accepted up to 4 weeks prior to the start of the course with a full refund. However, any cancellations made with less than a months’ notice will be charged in full unless the School is able to offer the place to an alternative student.
